I'm Jou, and I help businesses save time and grow with artificial intelligence.
My name is Jou Ruiz Thijssen. I live in Calonge, on the Costa Brava in Spain, and from here I design and implement AI and automation solutions for businesses that want to reclaim time by automating processes and let their team focus on what really matters.
Why Ruyx Labs was born
I've always been drawn to the digital world. I grew up navigating it with ease, and over time it became more than a hobby. It all started with Costa Brava Members, a personal project to connect people with the best plans, events and experiences on the Costa Brava. I built it from scratch and it became my lab for understanding what can genuinely be automated in a real business.
While building Costa Brava Members, I watched AI evolve at breakneck speed. It wasn't a fad — it was clearly the future. I dove in head first. First as a self-learner — I was using ChatGPT from the very first day it launched, took dozens of online courses and spent hundreds of hours experimenting. Then I sought formal training and completed the Master's in Artificial Intelligence at Big SEO Academy to consolidate everything I'd learned.
The first thing I did was automate my own project. Instagram content creation, event management, community communication… practically the entire operation of Costa Brava Members runs on AI and automation today. Seeing the results, I started helping friends and family with their businesses: a dental clinic, a restaurant, an online store. And it worked.
The leap was natural: if it works for me and for the people around me, why not for any business? That's how was born. I don't come from a consultancy or a big corporation. I come from practice — from having tested it on myself first and knowing what works because I've seen it work.Ruyx Labs
How I work
No smoke and mirrors
I don't promise what I can't deliver. Before we start, we analyse together whether the solution makes sense for your business. If it doesn't, I'll tell you.
Measurable results
Every automation has a clear objective and a result you can measure: time saved, clients recovered, errors eliminated. If it can't be measured, we don't do it.

Beyond the code
When I'm not building automations, I'm probably training. Boxing and the gym are how I switch off and keep my head clear. The rest of my free time goes to the people closest to me — at the end of the day, that's what matters.
What takes up most of my time outside client projects is learning. AI advances every week and if you don't keep up, you fall behind. I'm constantly testing new tools, discovering features and creating my own projects to put what I've learned into practice. Costa Brava Members is still my favourite lab.
Right now I work mainly with businesses in my area — Girona, the Costa Brava — because I value close relationships and getting to know a business in person. But I speak Spanish, Catalan, English and Dutch fluently, so if your business has international clients or you're based outside Spain, we'll understand each other perfectly.
